Volvo Penta no longer provides warranties on their engines

Do you really think that is the case with all the torque changes, revs etc & the dust etc? The engine still operates in damp conditions, in rain, or snow, then hot weather. I do not know how much a large marine engine changes speed, but one might expect much less load changes & once on the plane...

Volvo Penta no longer provides warranties on their engines

From Volvo's point of view the extra warranty issue is that it is just too much hassle & the sales & marketing dept may have said " why bother?". Let's just argue the point as & when it happens. If the client has a justifiable claim pay him. If not, why not let him take a hit & take no risk in...

Volvo Penta no longer provides warranties on their engines

I would expect Volvo warranties to be dependant on sevicing being shown to be carried out by volvo service centres at scheduled intervals. So mickey millionaire is more likely to just pick up the phone & instruct accordingly. Your yachtmaster may start playing with his spanner. Who do you think...

    Shrimper 19 for channel crossing

That can be OK if your sailing aspirations are low. At our club we have a few small boats that the owners enjoy sailing up & down the River Blackwater. However, they view the Bradwell Power station at the estuary entrance, as we on earth view the moon. -- They have never seen the other side...

    Shrimper 19 for channel crossing

I spent 10 days on my father's silhouette with my mate, but at 15 years of age it is not a problem. They have crossed the channel more than once. But it can only be considered considerably hard work, as can any small boat. That is why I suggested the 25.5 which would eat the journey due to its...

    Shrimper 19 for channel crossing

I met a chap in Ostend who was in a Drascombe. He was on his way SH to sail the Riddle of the Sands. He did stink a bit though, so I am not sure what conditions are like on a Drascombe

    Shrimper 19 for channel crossing

That does not fall in line with comments from other forumites does it? They are already suggesting a shrimper may not be the best option & the OP has suggested he may be open to suggestions. Threads evolve ----whether you like it or not

    Shrimper 19 for channel crossing

I was not suggesting he tow it round the country. Some people have friends,or family, who could tow a boat & park it up for him. The point is that it saves on marina, or storage fees big time --if one has a sympathetic parent etc. who will let him park it in the garden etc. for free. Then he can...

    Land Ahoy!

Certainly puts one off doing the ARC atlantic in the first place. I know that my friends disliked the last 6 days of the crossing westwards & complained of the excessive heat. They were not particularly enamoured with the Carribbean having waited for the return just wandering around waiting . I...

    Shrimper 19 for channel crossing

I know where there is a sadler 25.5 with working engine & sails. Needs a bit of fettling but the good thing is that it is on a road trailer so you could park it somewhere cheap- in the drive at home- & work on it. 6 weekends & you have a good boat that sails like a witch possibly for 5K all in...

    Land Ahoy!

Yesterday my friends in the Arc Europe only managed 114 miles in 24 hours. If they cannot better that then the Arc organisers will have b..gered off & they will be on their own. This sort of breaks the point of doing the Arc in my view.

    Land Ahoy!

Some of the boats - in theory- should be performance orientated cruisers. But in reality they are not actually making much faster passages than others. Perhaps it shows how a long keeled boat that does not seem so fast round the Island just eats the miles as good as some other designs.
