    Rutland 914i v 55w Victron Solar panel

Sorry, been away and caught up with these. It is very well made, tall* pole with two stays (not wire) and an attached deck plate with four bolts; I don't know if it was made by Marlec but it is high quality and was on the back of our Southerly 38. The blades were well balanced and we felt...

    Rutland 914i v 55w Victron Solar panel

Just taken my 914i off the boat and it is in the garage now, which probably answers the question. There simply is no comparison.

    Lithium, need Balmar reulator?

There are others much more knowledgeable (and there is more to it than regulators, as you no doubt know) but from what I have gleaned..... I believe the Balmar regulator has lagged behind the times in terms of Lithium management and that Wakespeed or Zeus are the places to go.

    Older Raymarine Chartplotters

Yes, although there was a lot of 'chatter' about it, a couple of years ago, it is available, easy and it works well. You buy an update pack which is about half price* - this is a new CF card from Navionics. I bought mine last year (almost to the day) from Navionics Update card - CF format BLANK...

    AIS transponder/wifi/tablet

Thanks @Plum and @Refueler for your posts as I hadn't realised how easy this might be. My nav system just works and so I have never had to get my head round it all. I have st60+ instruments, Ray AIS650 transceiver and C90W swivelling at helm plus Autopilot. I wanted a tablet with AIS in...

    Transmission dipstick

Expensive at Yanmar for plastic rubbish. Emmalina is correct about the vent, which is critical but not necessarily obvious. Alternative (posted quickly when in stock) is from Cariblue Marine in the US. Very pleased with mine and rather nicely made.

"Radiator" pressure cap for Yamar 4JH4E

Yanmar's dipstick is, as Vic says, soft rubbish and tends to keep breaking. Cariblue Marine do very nice alloy replacements with the proper vent hole etc. Having extracted the remains of my (inherited) gearbox dipstick I used one of these and am pleased with it - also very nice to deal with.

What to do if somebody has squatted on your mooring ?

Don't forget that, where the loss are liquidated damages i.e. the amount is already determined such as the price of the diesel supplied or the value of services supplied pursuant to a quote etc. , then you can use the Statutory Demand procedure, which costs nothing other than a postage stamp. If...

Advice on Belgium and Netherlands Cruise.

Ostend is the easiest to enter regarding passports. As DB says, it is on the extreme left of the railway building (their telephone number is on a notice on the door) and they are great to deal with. If you are in the RNSYC basin or Mercator, it is minutes away. If you are in the Royal Yacht Club...

    Our first year with lithium

I discussed this with my insurers (Admiral) a week or so ago. They are OK as long as A) it is professionally installed (or presumably signed off by a professional) and B) the BMS and other settings are appropriate for a lithium installation. I expect they would want to see written evidence of...

    Small ss job

Yes they are. They extended the cheeks on the bow roller on my previous boat and, as I approached the boat, I almost thought they hadn't done it as the weld was almost impossible to discern. First class work though perhaps a little pricey (I didnt shop around) but you gets what you pay for and I...

    UK Ship Registry Super Service

Agree with everything said by the OP. Quite incredulous that I was getting sensible, substantive dealings on a Sunday and there was a greater level of service than in well-paid parts of the private sector.
