    Pair of very smokey AD41's.....

The boat, which belongs to a freind, is a 30ft flybridge (gibsea gibralter) on shafts, about 1990. Upto 1800rpm all fairly normal. The videos show what happens from 1800rpm to about 2900rpm. Temps and oil pressure about right. Turbos can be finger turned. Injectors have been serviced and...

My 80's Sea Ray 197 Monaco Project

In 1991 I bought my first ‘proper’ (to me) boat. This boat: Thats me in it, early 90’s off Herne Bay Pier. We sold it in 96 to move on to a bigger Sportscruiser. By which time we had used it along the Kent Coast between Maidstone (on the River Medway) and Deal, as well as taking it to Lake...

Start engine or not during winter storage?

We will soon be leaving our boat for 6 months over winter. Located in South of France, 32ft with twin 200hp diesels on shafts. Kept afloat. The boat will be checked externally for any issues several times a week by friends who have their own boats on the same quay. Internally the measures we...

    Raymarine C80 / S3 course computer...How do they 'talk'

We have the above equipment on our new to us boat. Over the last couple of months I have got to understand it a bit (never had anything so complex on previous boats.) So the C80 seems to work fine including radar, depth sounder and repeater. Likewise the S3 autopilot works fine when set to...

We have bought a French Registered boat to keep in France under SSR. SSR all done. Poole Harbour Berths all FULL!??

It was starting to get difficult last year, but I can confirm that there are now no marina berths available at the Holes Bay Marina's. And I am told that this is the situation in the rest of Poole Harbour. Also the Slipway at Cobbs Quay is not going to be available to non berth holders with...

SSR Registration - Its got complicated!

Just renewing my SSR. Things have changed in the last 5 years. Use to be very short and simple. Now there are loads of bits of paperwork to load and scan, including a pre registration process. And you have to pay (I thought it was free before?) Mind you the certificates used to be so vague that...

    Med Boat use Post Brexit

As one who is planning to base a boat in the Med from next year but still live in the UK, (years delay due to Covid), what are peoples thoughts / plans regarding the potential (likely) imposition of being only able to spend 90 days in 180 at the boat. I am guessing some may not be affected but...

Upgrading ICC upto 10m to ICC over 10m........economically?

I have been running 20-31ft boats for over 30 years using some of them in Europe under the power boat level 2 obtained ICC. But we are now looking at keeping a boat in the med, probably France and the likely contenders are in the 10 to 11m range. A quick look on the internet turns up boat...
