A small yacht has been blown ashore just above the Tide Mill at Woodbridge. It looks as if it has dragged its mooring. The name may be Paddington, cannot quite make it out with binos .
Anyone know the owner?
As per title nearly new little used, basically for 3 or 4 weekends away in a hotel. Together with some of the blue and pink fluids.
Collection only, Woodbridge
£30
Posting in the hope that someone on here may know a canoeist.
In the last gale, Pia was it?, a blue and white canoe was blown up under the bank opposite the Tide Mill. It seems to have caught under a tree branch so likely to stay put. Seems pretty clean/new condition. The photo shows the...
There is a ? Cornish Shrimper, or similar, moored at Woodbridge opposite Ferry Quay with its Tricolour masthead nav light on. Was on last night and is still on. Perhaps for not much longer?
Anyone on here know who it may belong to? Hoping to prevent a flat battery.
Anyone know what is the significance of this yellow buoy with a cross top mark that has appeared opposite Ferry Quay in Woodbridge. It wasn't there a week or so ago.
We have a 2016 Skoda Yeti 1.2 DSG (petrol). Regularly serviced and had very little trouble with it.
Today driving to the YC, about 16 miles, the EPC light came on when nearly there and dumped us into Slow crawl mode. I pulled into a lay-by and switched off while I had a look at the manual...
If anyone is interested, this delightful Michael Palin film set in Southwold in the 1950s about two families on holiday is on BBC Four next Wednesday at 22-00.
I saw it some years ago and have often thought I would like to see it again, especially as it was before we had been to Southwold much...
I have been advised that all 4 tyres need replacing. Fronts getting close to limit and rears “perished and cracked” altho’ 5mm tread.
I am thinking of getting All season tyres and had Michelin Cross Climate on a previous car, are these still good performers or are there better choices?
Car is a...
On BBC1 East tonight at 19-30 there is a programme in the series “Making Waves“ about a “cutting edge” boat builder in Ipswich. I assume it will be Spirit Yachts. Should be interesting.
In case anyone else is interested.
I have seen this Motor Boat on the Deben a few times recently. It is a large 40' or so commercial/military looking vessel. The wheelhouse sides are a faded chequered blue and yellow with SWORD very large and Fairly in small letters. On the bow is a ? name Northumbria. No ensign seen on any...
I was amused/appalled by a photo illustrating the effect of the heatwave on river levels which showed the Orwell near Levington at LW. !!
Careless journalism at best or just plain stupidity/ignorance?
I have written my first ever letter to the editor to point out the error.
Hi all,
being now boatless, sadly, we are planning to visit many of our East Coast destinations by car. Can anyone advise where might be the nearest Disabled parking to the Waterside at Brightlingsea?
I know there is a car park on Oyster Tank Rd near the Sailing Club, but wondered if there was...
Someone didn't check the surge forecast!! Ferry Quay at Woodbridge. The EA guys who were standing by at the tide gate ready to close it if the level rose too far told me it belonged to a local fisherman.
Does anyone have a good idea what actual height will cause flooding of the road at this spot. There is a surge predicted for this evening which may be around 0.6m above normal a 3.6m HW at around 9-30 and we are expecting to be there around that time or a bit later. Unfortunately the surge is...
Today's HW at Harwich is 4.5m predicted and the NTSLF predict 0.5m above prediction so HW should be interesting. There is a Flood Warning in place locally.
I have just bought a small watercolour at the market outside the flat. I am sure it is on the East Coast, possibly Colchester? I am hoping someone can recognise the town. There are some distinctive shapes on the skyline, and what looks like the mast of a ship which suggests to me that the barges...
On my Stb engine when I switched on yesterday there was no alarm sound and the Oil pressure needle jumped up to about 50psi, Fuel gauge and Temp gauge behaved normally. The Port instruments all as normal. The boat has only just been relaunched, but was running normally when serviced in November...
I am not sure if this has been posted, but the Deben entrance has changed somewhat, and it is important to have a look at the East Coast Pilot downloads page to get up to date info before leaving or entering.
Details below...
Walking round the marina this morning I saw a strange, to me, rudder setup on a Trusty. Large single prop, with twin rudders set quite close together behind it. I have only seen twin rudders on twin screw boats, so why twin rudders with a single screw? Presumably there must be some significant...
