I've just splashed £800 for four new Cross-Climate 2's (about 2 hours ago) to replace my existing Cross Climates. The tyres wore evenly and would have given 40K without issue if someone hadn't left a piece of metal on the ground. The new ones are apparently even better and, if not class...
Bequia (Admiralty Bay) briefly for an overnight at anchor. Tobago Cays, Mustique, Bequia again , this time Friendship Bay, back to St. Vincent. Scheduled was determined by need to be in Mustique on Wednesday for a Birthday party and, much to my surprise by a desire to watch football matches...
...leaving Sunday and getting back Saturday evening. Bunch of old farts mostly but a couple of youngsters along who will do what they're bloody. Also any tips on provisioning appreciated.
Thank you all in anticipation...
I amazed that so many people know who actually owns other people's yachts. It's never occurred to me to ask and I wouldn't consider it any of my business most of the time.
Seamark-Nunn have a price for them on their website. About £485 at the moment. The only thing I don't like is the NFC communication. I'd want to be sure this couldn't drain the battery. Does anyone know if either AIS-SART or PLB can be set to trigger on immersion or LJ inflation? Might be...
Princess Anne is the only lady I have ever met that I can say I am pretty sure owned a yacht. In fairness I couldn't say who actually owned just about every yacht I've been on. I don't ask as it's really not relevant to me but it's quite possible many were joint-owned by husband and wife.
I have the old VHF and a UK Aviation licence (probably expired) but I just crept into the DSC days. It was a big red button and a few well hidden menu options that no-one ever used back then if I remember rightly. It was Solitaire of this forum who actually ran the course at the outfit Jon...
I did mine at the same time I did Day Skipper theory so I just assumed it was - the RYA definitely offer a course these days for a considerable sum of money. I can do it on line for £50 or even less so I'll just do it again anyway.
The UK doesn't even have a Good Samaritan law (Good Samaritan law - Wikipedia) unlike most of Europe, never mind one for property. Maybe one wasn't needed in earlier times but I reckon it is now.
I'm with you totally - I have never been asked for a VHF certificate (or any other very often) but it was mentioned in the blurb for the charter and certain members of the party are now in a panic as none of us who sail have a clue where our certificates are. I have even been asked to do an ICC...
I did mine decades ago and have no idea where the bit of paper is. The RYA website is most unhelpful unless you want to spend money as far as I can see so do any of you good people know how to get a copy or something that I can use to prove I have a licence (I am doing a charter soon and...
The Spirit 111 was, believe it or not, commissioned by a very rich gentleman as a day-sailer or weekender and was never intended for passage-making or bad weather.
The thing I actually like the least about the 65 is the vast expense of foredeck which is great in the sun but not what I want if...
Yeah, not exactly rare though those are spectacular (and not seen everyday). The problem with the height record is not the lift of course, it's that pressurisation is a challenge in a glider - even using pressure suits over 50K is a getting a bit fraught so they had to build a pressurised...
I have to admit I was surprised to see a Fischer-Panda in there. I found it quite impressive too but then at that price it should be. I would be interested to see if there's much difference in terms of pollution when running under the generator to power the motors compared to a straight...
