A friend in Cala D’Or has just sent me a message to say that as he was mooring today after a day out his battery charger caught fire!
He was just tying off his lines and hadn’t reconnected to shorepower so whatever the issue was it presumably must have been a battery/alternator issue. Both the...
I noticed yesterday that the new edition was on the supermarket shelves but I have not yet got my copy in the post. Is anyone else waiting for their delivery? I’m pretty sure I’ve had every other months mag before it was on general sale.
I wanted to start a separate thread to thank Jeremy and Nick from boats.co.uk for sorting out our dead engine issue.
I thanked them on my original thread but it was tucked away amongst the other posts and felt it deserved better recognition.
Thanks to you both we are back running and...
Currently sat on my boat in Cala D’Or marina with a completely dead engine.
Boat is new this year and the engine is a Mercruiser 6.2L petrol. All electrics on boat are fine including Plotter, leg trim and anchor winch, water systems, lights and music.
However when I turn the ignition key...
Next week we are back out to Cala D’Or for what may be our last outings on the boat this year. What is the general view on whether or not I should top up the petrol tank to be left over winter? Should I fill the tank to reduce the chance of condensation contaminating the petrol or should I leave...
My brand new boat - Monterey 258ss - was delivered to Cala D’Or at Easter which is when it went into the water for the first time. Today it has been lifted to sort a small warranty issue with the trim tabs and the engineer has reported that the engine anodes are badly eroded - after just 8...
My US parent company have just held a webinar giving an overview of the current situation regarding the Section 301 tariffs that Trump announced on imports of steel and aluminium and the global response.
As you may know the EU has prepared a list of Balancing measures that they intend to impose...
As previously reported we have recently bought a Monterey 258SS bowrider which will be based in Cala D'Or. It will be predominantly used for Bay hopping and sunbathing so I expect to be hugging the coast most of the time. It feels good to be "MedDreaming" again
Prompted by the...
A friend of mine, UK based but not currently on the forum is looking at a Spanish flagged boat which is currently in Alicante but he would move to Mallorca. Can anyone advise on the situation regarding reflagging the boat, in particular:-
1) As a UK resident will he need to deregister?
2) if...
My new boat will have a Raymarine A67 plotter and I’m a bit bewildered by the options for electronic charts.
I just need coverage of Mallorca as we are unlikely to venture too far from the coast in a 26 foot single engined bowrider!
Any recommendations?
Cheers
Meddy
Even as ex boaters we always enjoy visiting SIBS, so had a very pleasant weekend planned at the show with the intention of picking up a nice pair of boat shoes and some artwork for our apartment.
Unfortunately the shoes I wanted had been sold when I went back to buy them and the artwork didn't...

Also probably a victim of the matriculation tax fiasco.
Not really a major show but still its one less place to go and dream about the next boat.
Completed the sale of the boat yesterday and now for the first time in seven and a half years we are boatless, and it feels.......................OK.
We marketed the sale ourselves using a website and google ads (thanks to MartynK for his invaluable assistance) and an ad in Boats and Outboards...
What is involved in a "full service" of a KAD32 and how much should it cost (ex VAT).
I ask this not because I think I am paying too much, more that a friend thinks it should be more expensive - he's not a Volvo engineer by the way.
Thanks
Martyn
High rainfall in September has led to severe flooding and other problems in Mallorca. We were out there the weekend before last and called in at Cala D'or. This is what we saw when we got there
All boats had horrible red "tidemarks" around the waterline and there was so much rubbish...
I had a lot of useful information saved in my Favourites box but it seems to have disappeared!
Is this feature no longer available?
Also, while I'm at it, when reading through a thread how do I tell which post is a reply to a previous one, its really difficult to follow who is replying to...
I needed a couple of little things urgently for our visit to the boat this weekend. Not big expensive items but one of them (trim tab switch) pretty important for our cruising plans next week.
I've not bought from Seabridge before but the service has been fantastic. Ordered Monday arrived...
After five great years of Med boating we have decided its time to move on and we are putting Only You up for sale. She has been a fantastic boat for us, never missing a beat and the most expensive thing we have had to do was buy new batteries.
Ironically we made the decision at the whilst sat...
