When I press to speak on my VHF it blanks the screen and does not transmit. The radio receives as normal and I have a feeling the set is not the problem.
Could it be power supply or maybe poor aerial connection?
Yacht cradle:
Note the heavy centre section which bears the keel is not shown on this photo which was taken when I was trying it for size. The lower sections are galvanised and the Acrow props are painted. No rust and in good condition.

I found it difficult to get hold of my usual Jabsco replacement impeller locally, they are now around £30. So I thought I would take a punt on an Ebay item which was about half that price. What could go wrong, at least I could run the engine up before the spring?
Anyway I went to fit it...
Most smart people enjoy sailing so it's no surprise that Albert Einstein was a yachtsman. Here he is:

Avon Redstart, bought as a back up and never used. Number of tiny patches on underside would be better re-done, one valve leaks a bit ok with bung as per photo, so needs a bit of TLC. Looks lightly used otherwise:
Need the space. Comes with Avon inflatable seat, alloy oars and...
Here is a red hot tip. For a couple of pounds more than the usual cooked breakfast down the caff, if you find yourself in Jersey, go instead to the Brasserie on the ground floor of De Gruchy store:
Loads of attentive waiters, properly dressed, plus stylish surroundings and a cracking...
A topic that often generates a lot of heat on these pages. However here is a boat that will appeal to some, and is a good example of a project that has every sign of being a good buy. The Solent Boat Butler:

What is the best way of powering hand power tools? I have a 450 watt belt sander and intend to buy a cheap random orbital sander as well, probably need at least an hours use, or more, each visit I could:
a) Buy an inverter and use the car battery plus back up batteries
b) Buy a small...
A nearby thread veered off into the age of yachty electronics. Do you soldier on with aged stuff? Let us know.
I still have a Raytheon RS 420, black and white plotter, with Navionics. Bought second hand about 2004:

Can anyone suggest a rough figure for blasting old antifoul off a 32 ft hull? Any observations, alternatives or recommendations for the South West or Plymouth areas?
Thanks.

I plan to do some fishing from a rowing boat this winter, in the West Country. Might be Falmouth but probably on the River Tamar. I have my Grandad's old 8ft, cane pike rod but that is probably due retirement. More up to date is a glass 6 ft light boat rod which says 200 - 500g, with a...
8ft Tamar, grp:
Some scuffs but the underside is exceptionally clean. Two floatation seats plus hardwood centre thwart, original gelcoat.
These boats are very stable and easy to handle afloat and ashore.
