My DV20 has a temperature sensor with two blade connections. One is for the dashboard temperature light and the other is for a temperature gauge - that might not be fitted. Are you sure you are connected to the correct blade?
Use the blue chemical - and double dose during the Summer - and then you only need to empty when full. Can go down any public loo when you're ready. I have two of those 25 l grey water containers adapted with larger fill up holes so I can empty the Portapotti into those if I need to be away from...
I think you didn't do too badly. Your idea of reversing in might work - I notice most of the boats already in the berths have backed in. My own boat does not steer well in reverse, but if you can get your stern to the end of the pontoon, your crew can easily jump ashore and held you to get...
Yes - a fixed fin was available. I think a 1982 boat would also be a Mk 2. My boat was built in 1977. I also got the designer's name wrong - he was of course Angus Primrose! I keep my boat on a half tide mooring so the lift keel arrangement suits me, but it's likely a boat with a fixed fin will...
I have No 27. Have owned her for 21 years! She was bought as they seemed like a good family boat but family is no longer interested so I sail her by myself Early Seal 28's had lower topsides, shallower draft and a heavier drop keel but look prettier than the later ones. You can recognise later...
I modified the Lister 15hp diesel I had in an earlier boat by fitting a lift pump and relocating the fuel tank below the cockpit locker, but the motor worked perfectly well with simple gravity feed to the injector pump. With the fuel feed from the bottom of the tank, you won't need the bulb, either.
I have been using West epoxy resin, colloidal silica filler and woven bandage to make repairs to my own boat. It bonds very well to roughened GRP and wood.
70 year old day sailer, here. I also seem to do more boat handling now - close quarters sailing in the harbour, spinnakering on my own, navigating shallow creeks and such like. No more full power motor to the bar beacon then sails up and set course for distant lands!
For laying up, I run fresh water through my Bukh and then drain it. I do this by connecting the coolant pump to the galley water faucet so can be done on the mooring - so long as you've got enough water in the tank - about 5 gallons needed.
The survey is of the boat in question - but one of the first paragraphs in the report should tell you the parameters under which it was carried out. For instance, from a survey I commissioned:-
A survey was commissioned to establish the condition of the craft for insurance purposes. It was...
I wouldn't say this is difficult to do, but substantial lumps of cast iron are involved and you are tampering with the stuff that keeps it all in place. You need to have your plan of action in place and work carefully. My Seal 28 has a vertically lifting ballast keel (1000 lbs) that drops down...
