Hi,
VP122D port side is always in gear no matter what position the controls are at either helm. All the controls at the helms seem to be fine - ie they engage neutral so you can apply throttle at neutral etc so I’m assuming it’s at the ‘other end’. Is there anything obvious to check before...
Ok…. at the moment all have is oil filled rads and blown air heating from fan heaters - all on electric.
I have engine rooms, 4 cabins and all the hab areas to keep ‘warm’.
what do I need to do?
Thanks guys,
I’m spending more time in my boat and have ended up with an eye infection. This could be complete coincidence but now that it’s crossed my mind I want to sterilise my tanks. The obvious(?) method would be to run them dry (hot and cold) and then put some/enough cold water and add ‘cleanser’. Then...
As above really. Both engines start on first touch of the key but the starboard side will stop after a second or so and takes about 2-3 seconds of turning over to start again - and it will stay started until I manually stop it.
I haven’t done anything to investigate this yet and am looking for...
My exhaust on the VP122D is split/leaking re water where it meets the turbo and is leaking raw water into the bilge. Is there a product like ‘magic metal’ that I could use temporarily until the end of the season?
It looks like it may have been welded before when I zoom in on it.
I’ve got a Suzuki 6hp o/b and since I’ve acquired it it has had its own ideas about how to run properly. It’s been treated to a new plug etc and it hasn’t made any difference.
It will start extremely well whether hot or cold but will not idle with the choke in.
If it stalls - hot or cold -...
Hi - does anybody else’s GP-70 work? I’ve never had mine working and now I believe that it’ll never work due to the ‘roll-over’ date issue.
If so do I bin it or is there a fix?
Cheers
I need to try and lubricate my cables in a last ditch attempt to solve my still throttles before I bite the bullet and change all the cables. Is there a consensus on the best way to do this? I was going to spray all of the visible areas (and under the controls) and attempt to work it backwards...
Hi y’all.
I’ve stupidly left the manual for my generator onboard but I need to order a filter to take with me. I THINK it is an HFL 6kw - but I could be very wrong.
These are images I took last week - does anyone recognise them or suggest somewhere that might know what it is?
I have done so...
Hi all,
My ham fisted ‘engineer’* has broken the bleed screw that does down into the top of the filter housing (of the two Diesel engine filters). I have got the broken thread out so I just need a replacement. This (I think) has a 13mm head. Is there a technical word for this bolt and any...
I’ve got two rev counters - both starboard side - that don’t read. Healthy charge coming from the alternator (about 29v). I don’t believe that they are both faulty but is there something I can do to check before changing the alternator?
Hi all,
Pretty much as the title really. I have access to long and detailed PDF’s for other VP engines but I cannot seem to get anything for the 122d. I am particularly interested in details regarding servicing, bleeding techniques etc,
TIA,
Hi guys,
This is a long shot but can anyone ID these filters from this picture? That looks like a Lucas 494 but is there any reason to use ‘VP’ or other filters?
Also what filters are in the centre?
TIA
M
edit - pic would be handy!
Hi guys,
I have been physically looking at a boat in the SoF that is privately owned by a French individual but is still flying an IT flag. There is VAT paid but of course that is pretty much irrelevant if I wanted it in the UK.
I assume that if a broker was involved this would be a lot simpler...
I’ve been looking at ways of pre-warming either the oil (there seem to be various methods including sump pan heaters - internal or external sump) or by prewarming the water ( Kenlowe system or similar) or possibly even both.
However, if you’ve already got a califorier with a 2kw immersion...
Hi,
In the final throws of buying a Princess 410 and I have a clean sheet as to what spares to keep on board and what tools have been especially useful to have onboard.
TIA.
Hi, as per the title really. How much/how long would you expect to see smoke from these lumps. The pair in question have very low hours (350ish) and extremely well maintained so I’m wondering whether the low hours is a factor here and that some hard work may do them some good. Are there any...
Hi,
I’m trying to find a supplier of a good (excellent!) replacement cover for a boat I’m in the process of buying - we have Sabre Sails here in the marina and while I love the covers they’ve provided in the past for our current boat I’ve been asking for weeks for a price despite having chased...
