Our experience with 2 engines was that if you used both you doubled fuel consumption for maybe a 20% increase in speed. 2 engines would be useful if you have a tide window to catch or punching into seas - but otherwise a waste of money. We would thus run only one engine. Both engines, MD2020...
Another rant. :) more derailment.
I can point out it is not a sailing forum, its a yachting forum. It covers a number of vessel types. When you become a Mod you can determine what members might do - in between times......
Rod who is Maine Sail on CF made an earlier post on his battery bank...
For light relief what would the forum be like without Wansforth.
I have wondered if he is fictional - here to make us smile, there but for the grace of God

Before we sold Josepheline we had a Pronav 100 GPS. We kept it as back up but wired up and alongside a more modern chart plotter, Pronav was early in the GPS field, I think the 100 was sold for aircraft navigation. Pronav might have been bought out by Garmin. It had a simple digital display...
You might need a good deck (bow) wash. I'm not sure that muddy seawater in the shower is very inviting.
If you are happy - its a result. :)
If the problem is getting the rode low down then you could add a roller (like a bow roller) but upside down (or the chain passes under the roller), so...
Actually we were not talking about 'land' the criticism was on my kit, which is on land, but built round a yacht installation. So small solar panel display, not a whole roof, not tied to the grid. It has all the safety devices you would expect, on a yacht. I have been told there are...
What I find extraordinary is that Rod has turned up data and advice that, basically, no-one else has found. His advice on the conditions to cycle batteries are in contradiction to all the advice given by 'our' experts here - and he is effectively saying (I think) life as measured in cycles is...
I think the big difference between a terrestrial system and a marine system is the ability to have a larger solar display (on a terrestrial system) and the ability to feed excess power to the grid. I'm surprised catamaran owners are not criticised for being able to instal large solar displays -...
If you hit a reef or are run down by a tanker you will have problems within which Lithium will be a minor issue. I think I'm old enough to know of the constraints of space on a yacht. I have noted Geems consistent comment on fuses. I think on a yacht a skipper needs to take everything in...
When we moved from HK to Oz I decided I would not race, I simply could not afford the yacht to compete and I could not stomach the ideas of building a new crew from scratch, when all the people who could crew were already committed. HK has gone the same way - big yachts. I crewed on an...
And:
They are.....?
I'm testing what is needed for a Lithium house bank to be used on a yacht, I happen to be building it on land as we don't have a yacht, currently - but have the time to try things.
One thing that developed was Sydney's weather over the last fortnight, 13 days of which it...
If you Google Degero 28 you get a lot, a real lot, of hits (its in no ways rare) - I confess a lack of motivation, I've had a busy day. If you scan through you might get some ideas. It seems there is an owners group on Facebook, though I don't know how active (it came up in my Google search)...
If you recall I was heavily criticised for running a terrestrial Lithium power station :) - Rod is doing the same thing. I'm a pariah - he is to be copied. I'm in no way comparing - just saying
A lot of the data and practices are single data points - because all the experiences are newish and...
Virtually all our races except for the RORC China Sea Races were day races, mostly Sundays. We needed a crew of 6 out of a pool of 10. I paid for race entry and at the end of a race we would get an idea of who could race the next weekend. One person, in an irregular rota was nominated to...
A thought
If the cells need to be insulated from each other then printers blanket might be a good product. They are thin, around a millimetre in thickness, and are a canvas, or fabric backed, with a 1mm layer of rubber bonded on top. They come in standard sizes to match all the common...
Many of the applications on your website are for leisure applications.
Not that I understand why the application makes any difference.
But don't be upset to be questioned - its a forum, we are here to learn (or offer advice). There is considerable value in having people with different...
Vyv has a picture of his installation on his website.
You could teach a monkey to run cables - but you will pay for a certificated professional to do it for you (and he might give the task to an apprentice (but you will still pay the full rate).
Like Vyv or as Tranona says - its really not...
