Might be an idea to check your dates against the Tour Des Ports race schedule. When they're in town visitors berths can be a bit hard to find.
Tour des ports de la Manche – LA COURSE CROISIERE FRANCAISE
We're planning a trip from Portsmouth to the Netherlands in June and July. Last time we were there we sailed on the Versemeer and Oosterschelde in a Wayfarer with a boom tent. That was in the 1980s, this time we will be in a 12m cruiser/racer with 1.7m draft. She has a holding tank. I've...
Are these still available? If so I would be interested - we're planning a trip to Holland from Portsmouth this summer. My wife is a regular visitor to Benfleet so collection shouldn't be too difficult.
I have a Digital Yacht Ikomunicate box. It receives all the NMEA 2000 data off the Raymarine network and sends it to the Windows PC at the chart table. But the only software I've found is a web app that came with the Ikomunicate called "Instrument Panel". It's OK but a bit cranky about units...
Where the bolts are glued to the underside of the table could you drill right through it then use longer bolts with big washers top and bottom. It won't be pretty but it will be a lot stronger.
I've done all those jobs on a 39 foot 1998 Swedish cruiser racer over the last few years. Your total looks about right. Mine were:-
New mainsail in Vectran from Kemps £4,500.
Full set of networked Raymarine electronics including 3 displays, autopilot and 7" chart plotter installed myself...
Was there a few years ago. No obvious landmarks on the shore. Reeds talks about a cross near the entrance but the one they mean is only visible very close in. There is however a conspicuous Croix de Lorraine on the beach a mile or two west of the entrance marking the point where De Gaule...
I wouldn't rule out the Sigma 38. We sail something similar ( Scanyacht 391 - rating very similar to Sigma 38) as a couple in our mid sixties. Reef early to keep things comfortable and enjoy the speed.
My son has one that he uses when mountaineering. It is primarily for use as an emergency locator beacon but we do get the occasional brief text message from a summit or when he is safely back down. He minimises use for messaging because he says it is expensive.
Mine's an Ardic unit and getting a bit old. I worked out that it was struggling to lift fuel all the way from the boat's main fuel tank ( about one metre vertically). So I put in a small tank about level with the heater and fed it from there. No problems since then.
