    Beta 20 water leak

Any luck with solving the leak? For those that know, how do the shaft bearings come off? I have the same problem and appreciate guidance on the technique, if anyone's feeling generous!

    Gas Hob Puzzle

Mind you, understanding how it went in would be fairly fundamental to solving the problem, so not so super err err wot you said.

Lucky you didn't trigger your lifejacket!!

    Bristol

Even the Arnolfini pontoons aren't safe from drunken midnight would-be thieves swimming across from the harbourside. A friend had to chase some out of his saloon last summer.

Is this a usable marine knot ?

I used to know it as a 'Highwayman's Hitch'.

    scaffolding 'tent'

I was going to use it every winter to protect the boat and do things like varnishing in relative comfort, so residual value isn't a great consideration - durability would be more important. Sadly my time isn't that valuable either - being retired I can find a few days to spend on building...

    scaffolding 'tent'

I liked the idea of a custom shelter, but need to keep the cost in perspective. I've accumulated enough scaff tubes and clamps to make a framework for free, but the potential for structural failure and consequent bodily, or boaty, harm had me tempted by custom solutions, such as the one you...

    scaffolding 'tent'

OK, thanks for the comments. I'd been wrestling with scaffolding and monarflex and wondered if there was an easier way, but wanted something that I could use for winters to come rather than a one-off project.

    Anchor in front garden

I had a large bronze prop by the door. One day I realised it was no longer there and we couldn't remember when we'd last seen it, despite it being a really prominent feature. I imagine someone with a white van had grabbed it and weighed it in.

Should boat manufacturers start making sacrificial rudders?

Provide them with something to focus on and attack other than the rudder. Tow a series drogue of FB meat pies or something.

Joining wires with restricted access, not boaty

Vampire clips, which bite through the insulation and make contact, provided you can get pliers in there.
