my outboard fell over yesterday and the switch was broken. OEM ones online are ridiculously expensive , has anyone used a cheap universal one on theirs?

I replaced a broken stop pushbutton with a killcord switch from Amazon. Cost £5.99

We are fortunate in having a very nice boat, as a result of our second serious 'Senior Moment'!
The 16 year old upholstery is in excellent codition bar one seat cushion cover. This has worn and torn the stitching as a result on First Mate and I being 'shorthouses'.
We slide off of the end of this cushion due to the pilothouse floor being at a lower level than the floor of the seating area. The Island Packet OE material is 'Ultraleather', a very high quality and natural feeling faux leather.
Never mind, I'll order three metres of material and get our local upholsterer to redo the cushion.
The quote, from the UK Agent, is £711.00!
First mate has ordered samples from a couple of other sources of similar stuff.
All are under £20.00 per metre, delivered.
Methinks someone is 'avin a larf.......................................................
